As Rwanda recovers from the devasting genocide of 1994, the development of new sources of national revenue assumes critical importance. In the past, coffee had been an important export crop, but the quality of the final product was poor because of the lack of modern processing methods and facilities, despite the high quality of trees and perfect growing conditions.
