What is the difference between a yellow page and a document page or a white page?

AMIS is a documentation and exchange center that organises the following information:

  • Documents: downloadable studies, reports, guides, modules and all kinds of documents in PDF format.
  • Maps: downloadable maps in PDF or image (jpg-png-gif) format.
  • Yellow pages: presentation pages of institutions (agencies, authorities, companies, NGOs, organisations etc.)
  • White pages: personal presentation of a resources person within the agriculture and livestock sector. For example a CV of an agronomist in Rwanda.
  • Forums: online discussion platform. The discussions are organised by topic. A forum topic is the initial post to a new discussion thread within a forum.

A yellow page is a business card of the institution or company. The visitors of AMIS will get a first impression of the institution via this yellow page.

Before creating the yellow page: prepare the description or presentation of the institution

Prepare the description and presentation of your institution: basic information about the institution, its goals, its activities, its products, its labels... Most important are the contact details of your institution (telephone, address, email, website...).

A yellow page can be made attractive with nice pictures. If you want that your page will load quickly (even with a slow Internet connection), you should downsize your pictures and put them in JPG format. For photo editing software see the useful software tools help section.

It is also possible to upload a presentation leaflet in PDF format (as a file attachment). For more help on creating PDF files, click here.

Create the yellow page on AMIS

Subtopic quicklinks: Insert images - Upload PDF file (leaflet for example)

First you need an account (with a username and password). If you don't have an account, you can create a new account (in left menu). To create an account, you need an email address. After registration, your password will be sent to your email address. This password can only be used for the first login; you will have to provide a new password when you login the first time.

Once you have an account you can upload and create your content. When you are logged into AMIS (with your username and password), the Create content menu will appear. When you click on it, you will be given the option to create a yellow page. If you are logged in and you follow this link you will also be able to create a yellow page.

Complete all fields as well as possible, so that the visitors will easily find your yellow page.
